Laughter is a universal language, and in Coeur d'Alene, one couple has made it their mission to bring professional, high-quality, and most importantly, clean comedy to the region. Meet Merlin’s Comedy Club, where the jokes land hard, the comedians are top-tier, and the audience leaves with nothing but sore cheeks from smiling.

A Comedy Scene Built from Scratch

Founded in 2021 by Mickael and Alisha Stevens, Merlin’s Comedy Club was born from a simple observation: North Idaho didn’t have a solid comedy scene—unless you were willing to make the trek to Spokane. (And, let’s be honest, not everyone is thrilled about that option😉.) Mickael and Alisha, both longtime residents of the area, decided to take matters into their own hands.

Inspired by the rising popularity of Dry Bar Comedy, known for its clean yet wildly hilarious stand-up acts, the Stevens duo tested the waters. They booked a comedian, found a venue, and put on their first show. Fast forward three years, and Merlin’s Comedy Club has hosted over a dozen professional comedians, many of whom have appeared on Comedy Central, Fox’s Laughs, Last Comic Standing, and various late-night talk shows.

Funny, But Make It Clean

If you think clean comedy isn’t funny, Merlin’s Comedy Club is here to prove you wrong. “You really have to be funny to be a clean comedian,” says Mickael. “You can’t rely on the shock value of profanity or explicit content—you have to have real, solid material.”

Their shows are designed for audiences 13 and up, making live comedy accessible to a younger crowd while still delivering plenty of humor for adults. Whether you’re bringing your teenagers for a night out or just want to enjoy top-tier stand-up without the awkward moments, Merlin’s is filling a unique niche in the region’s entertainment scene.

Community-Focused, Laughter-Driven

Merlin’s isn’t just about cracking jokes—it’s about giving back. The club has provided tickets to local charities for fundraisers and silent auctions and has also sponsored regional youth sports teams. “We love this community, and we want to see it thrive,” says Alisha, a Coeur d'Alene native.

The dream doesn’t stop here. As Merlin’s Comedy Club continues to grow, they hope to expand their audience, increase the frequency of their shows, and eventually establish their own dedicated venue—a home for clean, professional comedy in North Idaho.
