Coeur d’Alene School Trustee Arrested for DUI, Drug Charges

A Coeur d’Alene School Board trustee is facing multiple misdemeanor charges following a weekend arrest in Kootenai County. The trustee was taken into custody early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Allison “Allie” Anderton was taken into custody by Post Falls police around 1 a.m. and later booked into the Kootenai County Jail, according to Post Falls Police Patrol Lt. Brian Harrison. Read More…
Federal Government to Restart Defaulted Student Loan Collections

The U.S. Department of Education will begin collecting payments on defaulted student loans again in May, signaling the end of a pandemic-era freeze that has offered relief to borrowers for over four years.
As the restart looms, the Department is urging borrowers to explore support options, including loan rehabilitation and the Fresh Start initiative—a program that offers a one-time path to bring defaulted loans back into good standing without immediate penalties. This initiative, introduced in 2022, allows eligible borrowers to access federal student aid again, qualify for income-driven repayment plans, and restore their credit. Read More…
Pope Francis' funeral to be held Saturday

The Vatican has announced that public viewing for Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88, will begin on Wednesday in St. Peter’s Basilica. His funeral is scheduled for Saturday, with global dignitaries expected to attend.

Borrenpohl Files $5M Tort Claim Alleging Assault and Civil Rights Violations at Kootenai County Town Hall

Teresa Borrenpohl filed a $5 million tort claim alleging her constitutional rights were violated when private security, directed by Sheriff Norris, forcibly removed her from a public town hall in February. Criminal charges were filed against six people from the security firm involved. County officials have not responded to the allegations. Read More…

Downtown Coeur d’Alene is set to burst with color and patriotic pride this spring as 170 hanging flower baskets and 70 American flags are installed throughout the area on May 22. The beloved annual tradition, organized by the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association, brings vibrant seasonal charm to the heart of the city.
The floral displays, provided by Aspen Nursery, are a staple of the downtown experience and have become a symbol of community spirit and pride. Racers braved cold, rain, and even snow at the 2025 Leadman Triathlon on Saturday, but the tough conditions didn’t stop Bridger Labau of Meridian from powering through to victory. Labau, competing in the 16–27 age group, clinched first place with an impressive time of 53 minutes and 22 seconds, leading a field of 274 athletes at the sold-out event in Silver Mountain. Hayden’s Chauntae Peterson was the first female finisher in 1:00:13 in the women’s age 31-39 division. Learn More…
