Last Chance to Register Online to Vote in Idaho’s May 20 Election

Idaho residents planning to vote in the May 20 election have until this Friday to register online. The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office has reminded voters that online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 26.

Those who miss the online deadline can still register in person at their polling place on Election Day. Early voting also begins soon in many counties, depending on local schedules. Learn More…

'Make Forests Healthy Again Act’
Becomes Law in Coeur d’Alene

Governor Brad Little visited Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday to officially sign the “Make Forests Healthy Again Act,” a new law aimed at improving forest health and reducing wildfire risks across Idaho.

During a ceremony at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, the governor emphasized the importance of proactive forest management. The legislation provides funding and expanded authority for state agencies to collaborate with private landowners, federal partners, and local governments. School Board Member Steps Down Following Easter Morning Incident

Allie Anderton has officially resigned from the Coeur d'Alene School Board following her recent arrest on charges of driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred early Easter morning, prompting swift developments in the days that followed.

Anderton’s resignation took effect immediately, and her letter was received by the board early this morning, according to a statement released by Coeur d'Alene School District officials. Hayden Kite Festival Returns May 10

The Hayden Kite Festival is set for Saturday, May 10, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Broadmoore Park. Steelhead Action Heats Up
Near Ellis on Upper Salmon River

Anglers hitting the Upper Salmon River this past week experienced varied success as the steelhead fishing season continues. According to the latest report from Idaho Fish and Game, conditions along the river shifted slightly between April 15 and April 21, influencing catch rates across different sections.

The most productive fishing occurred near Ellis, where anglers averaged just over four hours per steelhead caught. Catch rates were slightly less favorable in the Challis and Salmon areas, where averages ranged from 6 to 9 hours per fish. Upstream in the North Fork and Slate Creek zones, fishing proved slower, with anglers seeing limited action. Read More…
