Prescribed Burns Begin in Ridge Creek Fire Area to Reduce Fuels

Fire crews are set to conduct prescribed burns today, in the Ridge Creek Fire salvage area. The hand ignitions will target approximately 200 acres where recent timber salvage operations have been completed, aiming to reduce hazardous fuel loads and prevent future wildfires.
Residents in the greater Coeur d’Alene area, including Hayden and Athol, can expect to see smoke during the burns. Short-term smoke impacts are possible, and smoke may continue to be visible for several days after the prescribed fire activity concludes.
