Timeless Treasure: Clark’s Jewelers Honored for Historic Preservation

A Coeur d’Alene staple for over a century, Clark's Diamond Jewelers and its iconic sidewalk clock have stood the test of time on Sherman Avenue. The jewelry store, founded in 1907, added the now-historic two-dial street clock about 15 years later. Together, they've become a cherished symbol of continuity in the heart of downtown.

Lovingly maintained by the Clark family through generations, the clock is one of the last of its kind—still operating with original parts and wound by hand every week. It has weathered street upgrades and city changes, standing as a familiar sight for passersby and a proud beacon of the family business. Read More…

Lippert, Bauman Face Off in Pivotal Community Library Network Election

Although the race won’t shift the board’s current conservative majority, it offers a glimpse into competing philosophies on library governance, access, and censorship. Read More…

Under the order, U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon is directed to hold accrediting agencies accountable through measures such as denial or termination of federal recognition for poor performance or violations of civil rights laws. The directive also calls for investigations into unlawful discrimination within higher education institutions, including law and medical schools. Read More…
