Companions Animal Center (CAC) in Kootenai County is grappling with an unexpected and unprecedented challenge: for the first time in its history, the nonprofit has had to purchase dog food. With donations dwindling to record lows, the shelter has already spent around $5,000 this year just to feed the animals in its careโan expense it has traditionally avoided thanks to community support. Federal Court Overturns President Trump's Tariffs, Citing Overreach

A federal court has delivered a sweeping decision that dismantles President Donald Trumpโs controversial tariff program, ruling that he overstepped his executive powers in imposing broad trade restrictions. The United States Court of International Trade concluded that Trump did not have the constitutional authority to levy widespread tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
The ruling invalidates key tariffs implemented during Trumpโs administration, including a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico, a 20% tariff on Chinese imports, and a 10% baseline tariff affecting a wide array of U.S. trading partners. Stage Tribute Celebrates 80 Years Since WWII with Song and Story

As the nation marks 80 years since the end of World War II, a special performance in Coeur dโAlene will honor the sacrifices and service of American veterans through music and storytelling. โA Veteran Salute in Song and Story,โ presented by Love Joy Harmony Inc., will be staged at the Lake City Playhouse from June 3 to 8, offering an inspiring blend of patriotism and performance.
Set for 6:30 p.m. on June 3โ6 and 2:00 p.m. on June 7โ8, the event serves as a heartfelt continuation of Memorial Day observances, shining a light on the experiences of both past and present members of the military.

2025 Youth Soccer Camps

The City of Coeur dโAlene Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with the North Idaho College menโs soccer program to host a new series of youth soccer camps in 2025.
