Coeur d’Alene is gearing up for a festive Fourth of July celebration packed with patriotic spirit, family-friendly activities, and a dazzling fireworks display over Lake Coeur d’Alene. The full-day event, kicks off at 10 a.m. with the annual Fourth of July Parade. Plan to Sell Federal Land in Idaho Draws Bipartisan Pushback

Nearly 22 million acres of public land in Idaho could be sold under a new federal proposal, sparking intense debate over the future of the state’s outdoor spaces.
The proposal, part of the sweeping One Big Beautiful Bill Act, includes language from Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) that mandates the sale of public lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. The draft legislation, recently released by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, calls for the "mandatory disposal" of certain federal lands to increase housing supply in the West. Idaho Officials Respond to Middle East Tensions Following U.S. Strikes

Governor Brad Little (R) praised Trump for the action, stating on X: “POTUS is taking decisive action to put America First and keep the world safe. Iran should never have a nuclear weapon. God bless our brave men and women in uniform.”
U.S. Senator Mike Crapo gave the following support for Trump after the attack: “President Trump has taken targeted action against Iran and upheld his long-held stance that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. I continue to support our vital ally, Israel, and President Trump’s strong leadership in protecting American national security.”
U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson (R) also supported Trump’s order to strike Iran, stating on X: “Iran should never have a nuclear weapon. President Trump’s decisive leadership sends a clear message to our adversaries: he means what he says and stands firm in defense of American security. I fully support his decision to eliminate the nuclear program of the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. May God bless the brave men and women of our armed forces who serve our country with honor.”

Gun Safety Training for Women
Returns Home to North Idaho

A women-led gun safety program, "Girls Just Wanna Have Guns," is returning to North Idaho on June 28. Founded by Adelina Mae, the initiative empowers women with hands-on firearm training, especially those with little experience. The Coeur d’Alene event at the Fernan Rod and Gun Club will offer three hours of instruction tailored for beginners, focusing on confidence, independence, and self-defense.
