Recovery Continues for CDA Fire Battalion Chief After June Cardiac Event
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department has shared a hopeful update on Battalion Chief Dave Tysdal, who continues to recover following a serious medical emergency earlier this summer.
Tysdal, a well-respected veteran of the department, suffered a cardiac event in June and was hospitalized in critical condition. In a recent statement, the department reported that his condition has steadily improved and that he is now making encouraging progress in rehabilitation. Watch Spotlight Here…
North Idaho College Advances in NASA Workforce Program

North Idaho College (NIC) is soaring to new heights after being chosen to advance in a national initiative aimed at building the future aerospace workforce.
NIC has been selected as one of 17 institutions across the country to progress to the next phase of NASA’s High-Impact Workforce Initiative (HIWI), a program designed to strengthen workforce pipelines in STEM fields—particularly those aligned with space and aeronautics.
This recognition marks a significant step for the community college, which is seeking to deepen its role in preparing students for careers in aerospace technology, engineering, and space sciences. By advancing in the HIWI program, NIC is now eligible for up to $1.5 million in funding to develop programs that address the technical needs of NASA and the broader aerospace industry. Read More…

After years of political efforts to transfer federal public lands to state control—often viewed as a path toward privatization, an Idaho filmmaker is taking to the screen to explore the cultural, ecological, and democratic value of America’s public lands.
Boise-based director Loren Laybourn is currently working on a feature-length documentary that delves into the ongoing debate over federal land ownership.
