Idaho’s Population Growth Slows but Remains Among Fastest in Nation

Idaho’s population growth has slowed but remains steady, with a 1.5% increase from 2023 to 2024. Urban counties are now driving most of the growth, reversing a pandemic-era trend of rural expansion. Nine counties lost population, aligning with a national resurgence in metro area growth. Migration from other states continues to fuel Idaho’s increase, putting it on track to surpass Nebraska in population soon. Learn More…

Coeur d'Alene Public Schools is holding a job fair on March 26, 2025, from 3-6 p.m. at the Midtown Meeting Center. The district is hiring for multiple positions, including teachers, bus drivers, custodians, and classroom assistants, for the 2025-2026 school year. Snow Slabs Developing Below Ridgelines

Recent snowfall and moderate winds are creating unstable snow slabs, especially below ridgelines and wind-loaded slopes. These slabs may fail under additional snow drift or human influence. Signs of danger include new cornices, surface cracking, and sculpted snow. Backcountry travelers should stick to lower-angle terrain and check the IPAC website for the full forecast.
