Free Celebration of Native American Heritage and Art in Coeur d’Alene

The Human Rights Education Institute (HREI) in Coeur d'Alene hosted a Native American Heritage Day celebration on November 26, 2024. The event will featured storytelling, crafts, fry bread-making, and educational activities honoring local tribes and their contributions. Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

The NIC wrestling team volunteered at the "Turkeys and More" drive-thru event in Coeur d’Alene, distributing over 2,000 frozen turkeys to families in need. Organized by the non-profit Turkeys and More, the event aimed to ensure every family in North Idaho could enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Chris Bilbrey Takes the Helm to Expand Avalanche Forecasting in North Idaho

The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center has appointed Chris Bilbrey as its first full-time director, marking a turning point for the organization. Bilbrey, with two decades of experience in snow science and avalanche forecasting, aims to enhance the center’s efficiency, expand forecast coverage to five zones, and increase forecast frequency to five days a week. IPAC, which supports North Idaho and northwest Montana, plays a vital role in avalanche education and safety for backcountry users.
