Merlin’s Comedy Club, founded by Mickael and Alisha Stevens in Coeur d'Alene, ID, is bringing high-quality, clean comedy to North Idaho, filling a gap in the local entertainment scene. Inspired by Dry Bar Comedy, they launched their first show in 2021 and have since hosted dozens of professional comedians seen on Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and late-night TV. Their shows, designed for audiences 13 and up, prove that comedy doesn’t need profanity to be hilarious—just sharp writing and real talent.
Beyond laughter, Merlin’s is deeply committed to the community, donating tickets to local charities and sponsoring youth sports. As they continue to grow, their vision includes expanding show frequency and eventually securing a dedicated venue. State Officials Warn 23andMe Users of Ongoing Genetic Data Risks

A coalition of state attorneys general is raising serious concerns about the security of personal genetic information shared with 23andMe, one of the largest consumer DNA testing companies. Following a significant data breach in 2023, officials say users' sensitive data—including genetic and ancestry information—may still be at risk.
The breach, which exposed the profiles of nearly 7 million users, allowed cybercriminals to access personal information tied to DNA data through credential-stuffing attacks—where hackers used leaked usernames and passwords from other sites to infiltrate accounts on 23andMe. Of particular concern was the exposure of detailed ancestry data and personal profiles of users who opted into the company’s DNA Relative feature. Read More…
CDA Garden District Added to
National Register of Historic Places

Coeur d’Alene’s historic Garden District has officially been added to the National Register of Historic Places, a recognition that highlights the neighborhood’s rich architectural and cultural legacy. The announcement came from the U.S. Park Service and was recently shared with the city’s Historic Preservation Commission.
Residents of the district were formally notified this week through letters sent by the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office, confirming the area’s new designation. This honor marks a significant milestone for one of Coeur d’Alene’s oldest and most storied neighborhoods. Learn More…
Tragic Head-On Collision Claims Seven Lives Outside Yellowstone Park

A devastating two-vehicle crash just north of Yellowstone National Park claimed the lives of seven people on Thursday morning, according to law enforcement officials in Montana.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 191 near the town of Big Sky when a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a passenger van used for tours. The impact was severe, leaving seven people dead at the scene and injuring several others. Read More…
Law Day Brings Justice System to Life for CDA High School Students

Students from Coeur d’Alene High School took part in a unique educational experience on Thursday as they gathered at the Kootenai County Courthouse to commemorate Law Day. The annual event offered students an inside look at the legal system, while encouraging thoughtful engagement with this year’s theme: “Voices of Democracy.”
Participants had the opportunity to tour the courthouse, observe courtroom procedures, and interact with local legal professionals. Judges, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel helped guide discussions on the Constitution, civil liberties, and the importance of civic participation. Read More…
