A Message From Mayor Woody McEvers

It has been a challenging week for our City and our community. As we mourn the tragic loss of Battalion Chief John Morrison and Battalion Chief Frank Harwood, and as we continue to pray for the recovery of Coeur d’Alene Engineer Dave Tysdal, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to our community and to all who came, selflessly, to stand beside us from so many other communities.
This horrific event has brought unimaginable sorrow, but it has also revealed the very best of who we are. The compassion, generosity, and unity shown by our residents, businesses, and visitors have been nothing short of extraordinary. From the lining of the streets during the funeral processions to the countless acts of kindness and support, your response has been deeply moving and profoundly appreciated.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the International Fire Union for its unwavering support, and to the cities that provided staff coverage so our Fire Department could attend memorial events.
While this has been one of the toughest weeks we’ve ever faced, the strength and spirit of people from every walk of life and every corner of society have been a blessing. On behalf of the City, thank you for standing together, for lifting each other up, and for showing the true heart of Coeur d’Alene. Taken from City of CdA Website
