Wounded Firefighter Hailed as Hero After
Life-Saving Warning in Deadly Ambush

Coeur d’Alene firefighter who was critically injured in a deadly ambush on Canfield Mountain last week is being hailed as a hero after managing to alert fellow responders about the shooter, despite being unable to move.

Dave Tysdal was responding to a fire when he encountered what authorities have described as a calculated attack. Two firefighters were killed in the ambush, and Tysdal, who was shot in the back, sustained life-altering injuries. Though immobilized from the waist down, he managed to warn others by operating his radio with his chin and shoulder, a move credited with preventing further loss of life. Read More….

The Village Bakery in Hayden Bakes Up Hope for People with Disabilities

Founded and run by Dana and Todd Bellefeuille, The Village Bakery is built on a mission to empower people often excluded from the workforce. Inspired by their own family’s experience raising children with special needs—and Dana’s personal struggle with dyslexia—the Bellefeuilles created a business where inclusion is the main ingredient.

Around 90% of the bakery’s staff are individuals with disabilities, working alongside volunteers and mentors in a nurturing environment focused on more than just job skills. Participants learn everything from baking and customer service to life skills, with the goal of helping each person discover their unique strengths and passions. Read More…
